Some other Kickstarters you might love!
over 4 years ago – Fri, Aug 16, 2019 at 08:59:21 PM

Hello, everyone! It's Megan here again, and after only a day! What a fun surprise!

I'm popping in on this delightful Friday evening to let you all know about two wonderful Kickstarters being run by close friends of ours. If you're a fan of our products (which we hope you are, since you're here, after all) then we're sure you'll love these too!

Out of the Box: Encounters for Fifth Edition

The first Kickstarter is a fantastic book of unique D&D 5e encounters from our friends at Nerdarchy! With new monsters, new magic items, plastic miniatures to accompany each encounter, and a foreword from The Almighty Matt Mercer himself, you can be sure this book will be a treasure. At over $225,000 in funding, it's obvious others feel the same too!

There are only 30 hours left to back this project, so we recommend you check it out ASAP!

Dossier Decks: Merchants, Mages, and Goblins

The second Kickstarter is a set of system-neutral NPC creation cards from SkeletonKey Games, most known for their Arcane Scrollworks series. These decks help to create unique, immediately usable NPCs for any fantasy tabletop RPG, with just a flip of three cards! With unique character art on every profile card, these new NPCs will add loads of creativity and immersive beauty to your games!

Plus, in very exciting news, Nord Games will be handling the fulfillment and warehousing of these new NPC card decks! Hooray for collaboration and spreading the love in this glorious gaming community!

This Kickstarter campaign has just begun, so go show these card decks some love to let SkeletonKey know you're as excited as we are!

That's all for today, folks! Have a lovely weekend of gaming, and we'll be back in a couple of weeks for our next regularly-scheduled update!

General Updates + Fun Stuff!
over 4 years ago – Thu, Aug 15, 2019 at 11:52:23 PM

Hello all! It's Megan here again -- I hope you've all had a lovely last few weeks!

In what is perhaps the most lovely news in months, we have no new updates regarding Objects of Intrigue! That means everything is going smoothly at the printers, and everything is still right on schedule! As usual, we'll update you immediately if that somehow changes.

2nd Editions!

In more general news, after lots of work with our Graphic Designer Chris Van Der Linden (of Loresmyth fame!), we've developed new designs for the 2nd Edition reprints of our Wandering Monster decks and Treasure Trove decks

Wilderlands Mock-up -- just look at that new logo!

Treasure Trove mock-up -- so much delicious loot!

This redesign is just one part of our company-wide effort to solidify our new aesthetic in the coming months. We're also working on an overhaul of our website, new product mock-ups, and redesigned email templates! Woohoo!

Fun on Social Media!

Recently, Nord has been breaking even further into the D&D meme scene (yes, there's a scene) on social media. Whatever incredible genius is behind Nord's marketing strategy really pulled out all the stops to cook up some comedy gold over the last few weeks. From the memes alone, you can tell she must be a pretty awesome person. I mean, just look at these gems:

If you're a fan of stuff like this, remember to like us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to see more! The shenanigans also ensue daily in the Nord Lounge on Discord as well, if you're a fellow Discordian... Discorder... Discordmeister... Discordinator... yes.

Anywho: that's all for this week's update, adventurers! As always, may you all game happily and often until we reunite once more in two weeks time!

It's official -- ALL decks are now off to print!
over 4 years ago – Fri, Aug 02, 2019 at 01:11:02 AM

Hello, everyone!

It's Megan again, happy to report that we've officially begun printing ALL Objects of Intrigue card decks! Woohoo!

We're so in love with how these cards have turned out. Each of the four decks is filled with a variety of goodies and curious quest starters that will spark loads of exciting scenarios in your D&D games.

Take a look at some of our finished cards below:

Plans Moving Forward

Now that the biggest chunk of work has been completed, we are still right on track for our new September delivery date (phew!)

Our next step is to get cranking on the card deck PDFs. As mentioned in the campaign, our finished book-style PDFs will feature additional tidbits like quests ideas, recommendations for specific cards, and other input from our writers to help you during your game.

We don't have a finish date for the PDFs as of yet. However, please know that our goal is to get those PDFs out to you all as soon as we can, without sacrificing the love and time necessary to create them. We'll update you with more concrete info as we get cranking on that PDF layout/writing.

As for future updates, there won't be too much to share with you all now that the main bulk of content is completed. However, we will keep you posted with PDF progress, more card sneak peaks, and many-a-D&D-meme to quench all of our nerdy brains in the interim ;)

Thanks all, and see you for our next update in a couple of weeks!

Happy Gaming,

Megan

PS: A meme sneak-peak, not at all inspired by personal recent events...

An Update on Delivery Date
almost 5 years ago – Thu, Jul 18, 2019 at 01:04:14 AM

Hello, Objects of Intrigue backers!

This is Megan, Marketing and Community Manager here at Nord Games. Thank you for your time in advance for what will be an extensive, detailed update.

Today, I am here to inform all of you of the new projected release date for Objects of Intrigue. We are very regretful that we have already hit delays in getting this product to you, but we are happy to report that all major problems have been remedied and that completion is on the horizon.

We will be receiving all shipments of Objects of Intrigue cards in approximately 9 weeks, after which we will immediately be mailing them to all backers. You can now expect to receive your full OoI pledge around mid-to-late September.

In addition to this news, I would also like to offer our sincerest apologies from the entire Nord Games staff for our failure to communicate often and well with you about our difficulties on this Kickstarter.

As you know, our latest update for this project was on May 23rd, during which we showed you our finalized layout for the Objects of Intrigue card decks, and informed you of our switch to thicker paper for the print run. We also explained that the cards were in the process of receiving finishing touches before sending them off to be printed.

This update made no mention of delays, though it was released during the month pledges were set to be fulfilled. We should have been much more forthcoming from the get-go about the difficulties we were facing that led to these delays, and we apologize for keeping you in the dark.

We’re also deeply regretful that it took us this long to get back to you regarding the status of fulfillment. There is no excuse for our silence, especially amidst your queries for updates, and we were very much in the wrong to not inform you all about this sooner.

It’s not our aim to justify our lack of action since May, but we do want to offer you an explanation as to what has been happening at Nord Games.

  • Rapid Company Growth

Nord Games has expanded at a rate none of us could have predicted. What was a company with just 3 employees at the end of 2017 has now grown to a company of 9 full-time employees 1.5 years later.

This exponential growth has been wonderful and humbling, but it has also been a trial by fire. Our staff is working tirelessly to meet demands with our Kickstarters, website sales, retail store orders, conventions, and the constant design/writing/editing/testing/production of upcoming products. In the past 6 months, we have also relocated our office and warehouse, completed loads of necessary construction within that warehouse, and secured very-appreciated healthcare benefits for all US employees.

Many of us pull very, very late hours each week in effort to keep up with this demand. Still, in many cases, it feels as if we’re swimming upstream. That is in large part due to an overestimation of our capability during this period of rapid growth, and has in turn affected you all by delaying this project. We sincerely regret this error, and we will not make this mistake in the future.

  • Fulfillment of Prior Kickstarters

As many of you are aware, we are also working on other already-funded Kickstarters: Spectacular Settlements (which is currently in playtesting), Treacherous Traps (which is in final stages of writing) and Dreaded Accursed (which is in final stages of writing). For all of Nord’s prior 14 Kickstarters, this tight fulfillment schedule has never been an issue, and that is something we take pride in.

However, we have now fallen behind on three of our current four Kickstarters, which is inexcusable. In spite of our team chugging away at finishing these cards, we’ve run into snags with proofreading/rewriting, correcting layout after editing font size/location, playtesting and editing to determine appropriate content, and more to ensure that Objects of Intrigue meets Nord’s very high quality standards.

In our effort to fix all of these issues as they’ve arisen, Objects of Intrigue has continually been delayed in small, unpredictable bits. While any delay is far from ideal, we would much rather be ironing these issues out now as opposed to hastily sending out something we aren’t proud of. In spite of disappointment, we hope this is a sentiment you can agree with.

In the midst of these efforts, we have also failed in letting you, our backers, know what was happening. While delays are not uncommon with Kickstarters, we at Nord pride ourselves in having been on-time with all of our past projects. This time, we were wrong, and we didn't communicate that properly. Going forward, we will be doing everything we can to improve that communication and reassess our Kickstarter timeline to make sure this never happens again.

In order to rectify our situation, here is our game plan moving forward:

  • We are putting all future Kickstarter plans on hold. We refuse to begin another Kickstarter until a) we have sent each and every current project through successful production, and b) our next project is at least 80% complete prior to starting our next Kickstarter. We do not take these delays lightly, and we want to ensure that all future projects are tackled with our new hard-earned knowledge of the industry and our own capabilities.

  • We will be posting updates on this project biweekly, starting with today’s update. Along with these general updates (including sneak peeks and/or small promotions), any larger updates to this project will be sent along as soon as we have them. We hope these updates will show you our dedication to improved, consistent communication, and that their contents will help provide some insight and joy in the interim of this delay.

Thank you all for giving us your time during this long update. As a long-time Kickstarter supporter myself, I know how disappointing it can be to open your email to find a Kickstarter delay notification, and assure you we are committed to making sure this never happens again.

If you’d like to leave any feedback, please do so below. I will be personally reading and responding to each comment, and will be happy to help however I can.

Thank you again for your support, and we look forward to bringing you more regular updates in the near future!

Happy Gaming,

Megan
